And cut.

Dear readers,

When I started writing this blog, two years ago, I was far from thinking it would live so long.
I was far from imagining that 2,000 people across the globe would pop by every month to spend some time reading and commenting.
I was also underestimating how much I would learn from this experience.

Killing in Style was the first blog to talk about Giallo, and tried to do it by bringing new angles and perspectives on the genre, beyond a pure cinematographic point of view. I hope it lived up to this objective.

Two years have passed and I am amazed at how insightful this has been, and how encouraging your support has consistently been.
It started from the love of Italian soundtracks of the 70s, led to the exploration of a unique cinema genre and opened many new directions for future reflections.
All of which would not have happened without this blog.

Today, Killing in Style comes to an end.
Simply because I feel I have written all I could write about it. It's time to wrap up and watch a new generation of blogs bring fresh ideas about the genre.
Time to say thank you. Sincerely.
And time to say "Au revoir".

Killing in Style will stay online for a little longer.
Before it disappears, please click here to get to a summary of the films and topics I wrote about, or simply flick through the archives.

Update on July 17, 2007
I understand a lot of you would like to see the blog stay online. So I decided to finally leave it on. I would like to thank you all again for the many messages and comments I received.

This is the best thing on the net by a country mile. In a blogosphere characterized by homogeneity and lacklustre content, it has been an absolute joy.

Please reconsider, or at least move on to anther topic, so that we can contnue to enjoy your insights and erudition.

I've been an admirer of this site since I stumbled upon it several months ago. It was the inspiration (along with Giallo Fever) for my own series on Italian horror at The Film Walrus Reviews.

I'd also throw in my vote to reconsider or to return one day after a sabbatical.

The upside for me is that I still have many backlogs to go through and revisit. It never really ends.

I have really enjoyed this blog and will be sad to see it go.

I have gained a lot from the reviews and discussions.

Dear all,

thank you very much for all your kind comments. It's really much appreciated.

Take care

Why delete it? You've provided a lot of content that really should continue to be available online. It won't cost you anything to leave the blog up, will it?

Sorry to see you go. Killing in Style has been one of the only places to get intelligent comments on the genre. Now all I've got is Giallo Fever left! Good luck on future endeavors.

Thank for all the work and good luck with your future projects

Thank you for creating this for the past two years. Your sincere appreciation for the genre is evident in your writing; we readers have benefitted from your insightful perspective. On that note, why not leave up for others to continue to enjoy and learn from? Cheers.

Hi Sylvain, I've always enjoyed your blog and kept up with it although I regretfully didn't take to time to posts comments.

I just want to thank you for your efforts and join in with the chorus that requests that you leave your writings posted as a resource for further reading.

There's some worthy stuff here to be discovered by new readers everywhere, as well as good reading to revisit for those who already like what you've done.

Take care.

I would be very sad to see this blog go. I've found your observations to be highly insightful, and have checked for updates on a daily basis. Even if there aren't to be any more updates, please consider leaving it up or at least collecting your posts together somewhere so the content can still be accessed.

I returned to this site to refresh my bookmark only to read the sad news... and then the happy news. Stop playing with my emotions, Sylvain! But seriously, I've always appreciated your insights, as well as "Killling in Style"'s brevity and elegance. If you're feeling played out, why not invite occasional guests to share their thoughts. Open the forum up a bit and you'll see how refreshed the whole experience can be for you.

Thank goodness you're leaving it up. Whenever I felt like watching a new giallo the past couple years I would click my bookmark for this site. I am one of many (I'd venture to guess) who has been a regular reader but never commented. So I'd like to say a special thanks for all the work you have done.
